Raynesway. Applecross Development, Eskmill Work with the client to allow scheduled entry to houses. Manage earthworks contractor in relation to required finished profile and required levels for housing platforms. Required to determine finished path and road alignments to provide barrier free entry into sold homes not envisaged at the design stage. Worked with pump installer to rectify problems with system and protected employer’s interests against potential additional costs. The company was asked to return to complete a further phase of works when Raynesway personnel not available and Site Agent left for another job with Lagan Construction.
Land Engineering (Stone Engineering) Responsible for control of the Stone work on Motel One on Princess Street Edinburgh. Controlling the coursing of stone and the vertical position to suit window positions and reveals. Survey and identify issues with window positions. Interpret inadequate site sketches to reconstruct the dome a key feature of the façade of the building. Visit the storage yard and take measurements and identify to the designer steel work required in the construction phase to carry the carved stones. Develop an approach to re-build the dome and supervise it to near completion. A shop unit reserved by Apple Store required to be surveyed and photos taken to identify the relationship between the windows and the under build. This was so that a stone mason company could manufacture the components required to course the wall units into the floor tiles and design the stone support system.
Morrison Construction. St Johns Hill. Responsible for delivering remaining Civil Engineering aspects on sheltered housing development that could not be carried out within the main contract. A number of the issues were resolved between myself and the Architect including aspects of architectural detail and compliance to DDA but still maintaining structural integrity. This development was to construct homes for rent through Edivar.
